DANVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of an 8-1 win on Wednesday against Asbury, the Centre women's tennis team (8-6) hosted the Maryville Scots on Friday for their final contest of the weekend. The Colonels put together another win, their second in a row and third in four games off the 9-0 sweep.
Abby Jamison and
Mamie Sevier teamed up in the no. 1 doubles series, earning the most dominant doubles win of the night on a final score of 8-3.
Sophie Maddux and
Skylar Keesee consisted of the other doubles series that took place on Friday, earning a win together in the close 8-5 battle at the no. 2 spot of the lineup.
Ella Rueff had the most dominant singles victory for the Colonels, the senior dropping a 6-2, 6-2 final score at the top spot of the roster.
Kayla Harger (no. 2) and Keesee (no. 5) posted identical scores in their matches against the Scots, both winning off a 6-2, 6-3 score. After Maddux took down her Scot opponent in a neck-and-neck first set, the second set pushed a wider gap to close her no. 4 series 7-6 (5), 6-4. Jamison was the final singles match to conclude, her opponent forcing a third tiebreaker set in the no. 3 spot of the lineup. Jamison would come away with a victory for the Colonels to finish the night, winning on a final score of 6-3, (5) 6-7, 10-8.
The Gold & White will have one final week at home before they round out their six-game homestand, hosting Oglethorpe and Berry next weekend. They'll first take on the Stormy Petrels for Senior Day on Saturday, April 15 with a 9 a.m. ET start time.
