HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Colonels continued their northeast tour on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Black Squirrels of Haverford College
. After an early onset of goals from their opponents, Centre field hockey ultimately suffered a 3-0 loss, moving to 0-2 on the season.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Black Squirrels opened the scoring with a late goal in the game's opening quarter. Minutes into the next period, Haverford would collect their second goal, taking a 2-0 lead entering halftime.
- Out of the break, Centre tightened their defense, rendering the Black Squirrels scoreless in the third quarter. Although the Colonels rattled off two shots of their own, the score remained 2-0 entering the game's final period.
- Opening the fourth quarter, the Gold & White created scoring opportunities early, taking two back-to-back corner plays. Haverford's defense was able to halt the Colonels and would eventually notch one additional goal before regulation's end. When time ran out, the final score read Haverford three, Centre zero.
