Volleyball stays unbeaten in conference with 3-0 win over Rhodes

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre volleyball team improved to 17-4 this season while maintaining a perfect conference record at 9-0 after a 3-0 victory over the Rhodes Lynx that featured an unforgettable second set.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The opening set saw both teams battle back and forth, trading the lead. Centre trailed 15-12 midway through before scoring eight of the next ten points to go ahead for good. Rhodes cut the deficit to one on two separate occasions, but the Colonels stayed ahead, scoring the final four points as Abby Swartz put home the final kill on a 24-20 win.
- In the second set, the Colonels looked to make it a repeat of the first as they used a run at the midway point to grab the lead, eventually forcing a set point at 24-20. The Lynx battled back, scoring four in a row to force extra points. The two teams took turns fighting off set points as each team exhausted its full allotment of substitutions. Eventually, the Colonels won the battle of attrition with a 32-30 victory.
- Centre used the momentum gained from withstanding three set points in the second set and carried it with them into the third set, controlling it from the jump. The Colonels went on a 10-1 run to break open a close game and won by a score of 25-17 to take the match.
