DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre volleyball honored the senior class with the highest winning percentage in program history in their final regular season home game as they completed a season sweep of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels with a 3-0 victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set was the closest one of the day as Oglethorpe rallied from a six-point deficit to tie the score three separate times, the last one coming at 23-23. The next Oglethorpe serve went into the net and
Emma Howell delivered the final kill to secure a 25-23 win for the Colonels.
- Centre dominated the second set, utilizing runs of six straight and five straight to go up by double digits. The Colonels pulled away to a comfortable 25-13 win after a block from
Syd Bietz gave Centre the final point of the set.
- In the third set, the Colonels broke open a close one midway through, outscoring the Petrels 11-5 down the stretch to win by a score of 25-17. Howell capped off her senior day in style with the clinching kill, locking up the sweep for the Colonels.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre had one of its highest team hitting percentages of the season, hitting .307 for the game.
Isabel Thornton led a balanced scoring effort with a game-high ten kills, with Bietz,
Emily Goddin and
Ally Knueven adding eight each.

Emily Gardner averaged over ten assists per set, finishing with 34 for the game, nine more than Oglethorpe had as a team.
- The Colonels held a 44-35 advantage in digs over the Petrels.
June Padilla led all players with 14 digs, with Gardner adding 12.
NEXT UP
The Colonels will wrap up the volleyball regular season on Nov. 9 as they travel to Illinois to face Illinois Wesleyan and Wisconsin Lutheran in doubleheader action before returning to host the SAA Tournament on Nov. 14-16.
