MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The fifth-seeded Centre men's soccer team went to double overtime with the top-seeded Rhodes Lynx in 2024 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament semifinal and fell just short with a final score of 1-0.
The Gold & White finished the season with an overall record of 11-4-3. The Lynx moved on to the SAA Championship with a record of 11-4-0.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre saved all three shots that made it on target in the first half. Defense was key for the Colonels as none of the 10 shots by Rhodes in the first half found home.
- The Gold & White got off four shots in the second half.
Amit Shahar took the first for the Colonels and it was saved. The defense continued to hold strong as 10 more Lynx shots came and none scored.
- Centre got off more shots in the first overtime than Rhodes with two to their one.
- In the second overtime period, the home team clinched the win. A score in the 101st minute gave the Lynx the advancing tally.
