DANVILLE, Ky. – The biggest win of the season thus far for Centre men's tennis came in the form of an 8-1 victory over Indiana University Southeast on Sunday afternoon inside the Seabury Family Tennis Center.
After today's action, the Colonels sit at 2-1 and have a packed month of action ahead.
The Centre men swept all three doubles matches to set the tone for the day. In the No. 1 match,
Chase Turley and
Emilo Ventura Ramirez won 8-7 over the Grenadiers' top pair of Connor Mason and Camden Jones.
Isaac Flanery and
Anderson Gosnell picked up the win in the second slot with an 8-2 mark over Keith Asplund and Owen Law.
Emerson Dean and
Tanner Ray finished the doubles action with an 8-6 advantage versus No. 3 duo Eric Whitehouse and Miguel Sampaio.
The No. 1 singles battle was all for the Colonels in singles action, just like in doubles. Flanery earned the win over Mason 7-6, 6-1. In the second slot, IUSE won a match involving a tiebreaker with Asplund taking the win 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 over Centre's Turley. Gosnell earned another win thanks to a 6-3, 6-4 tally over Sampaio in the three slot.
The final three singles matches were all Gold & White as well. Ventura Ramirez won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4 singles to kick off the final portion of action. Dean triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in No. 4 singles action and in the six frame of individual action Ray came out on top 6-3, 6-3.
