Colonels fall in SAA finals

JACKSON, Miss.- Centre women's basketball met Millsaps in this year's Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Championship game. After a tight, four-quarter battle, the Colonels ultimately suffered a 68-63 loss to the Majors.

HIGHLIGHTS
 - Makya Grinter initiated the game with four quick points in the paint. The Majors hit back from long range but neither team would possess more than a three-point lead for the remainder of the frame. Centre's Lilly Reid closed the first period from behind the arc, moving the score to Centre 13, Millsaps 11 entering period two.
- Grinter once again opened the quarter's scoring, but Millsaps continued to match the Colonels point for point. By the quarter's media time-out, the score showed a tie at even 19's. Approaching halftime, Bailey Rucker and Reid teamed up for a 5-0 run, but the Majors would answer, freezing the first half's score at 29-27, the Colonels favoring.
- The trading game continued into the second half as the lead changed hands twice before the media break. Having their best period yet, the Majors trailed off with a detrimental 7-2 stretch to close the quarter.
-  Entering the final frame with their largest lead yet, Millsaps maintained control for the remainder of the game. Halfway through, Reid and Grinter knocked down successive buckets to come within four, but the Majors answered once again. A much needed three from Natalie Duggins put the Colonels within one possession in the final minute but the Majors ultimately closed the game at the line. At the end of regulation, the final score was set at 68-63, the Majors favoring.
