Colonels come up big on Senior Day with 71-56 win over Millsaps

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's basketball celebrated its seniors on Sunday afternoon as the Colonels welcomed the Millsaps Majors to Alumni Gym. Behind a strong effort from the class of 24, the Colonels got the win by a score of 71-56.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- All five Centre seniors got the starting nod today and the Colonels jumped out to an early lead thanks to three consecutive three-pointers from Carter Baughman.
- The Centre defense played well in the first half, limiting the Majors to 30 percent shooting. This allowed the Colonels to stay on top for the rest of the half.
- With three seconds left, Baughman was fouled in the act of shooting a three and made all of his free throw attempts, giving the Colonels a 32-20 lead at the break.
- The teams played evenly for most of the second half, but every time the Majors threatened with a run, Centre had an answer. Jaxson Banks connected from long range to put Centre up by 15.
- After Millsaps got it back to single digits, Izayiah Villafuerte buried a three from the corner and Carson Wooldridge scored off a nifty feed by Caleb Maul to make it 47-34.
- Chez Moore and Noah Ring each scored while getting fouled to keep the Majors at bay midway through the half. Baughman and Banks each drilled rally-killing threes down the stretch to give the Colonels a cushion at the end.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Baughman led all players with a season high 25 points, including 17 in the first half. He made six of Centre's ten shots from three-point range.
- Moore finished with 21 points and led the Colonels with nine rebounds.
- Centre enjoyed one of its strongest team defensive performances of the year, holding Millsaps to 32 percent shooting from the field (21-65) and 26 percent from distance.

NEXT UP

The Colonels will head back on the road for the final time this regular season next week as they head to Georgia to face Berry and Oglethorpe.
