Women’s tennis falls to Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Colonels of Centre women's tennis fell by a tally of 7-0 to the University of the Cumberlands, which is the NAIA's No. 20 ranked team.

The Gold & White sit at 1-4 after the trip to Williamsburg.

The doubles action was scored as one decision per NAIA rules, and Centre came close to earning that point. That No. 1 duos slot went the way of the Colonels as Grace Williams and Maddy Trinh won 6-4 over Carlota Verdu and Lucy Stojic. The second slot for doubles was played to a third set because the match had not been decided at that point. That set was a 6-4 setback for Carlie Mitchell and Kennedy Herring. The Gold & White fell 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles match which featured Natalie Black and Sophie Maddux

Three singles matches went to third set tiebreakers. No. 2 action, which was Trinh versus Stojic, went to a 6-3, 4-6, 5-7 score in favor of the Patriots. No. 4 singles was another tight match that broke 7-6, 3-6, 3-10 in favor of Pukaporn over Black. Herring played No. 5 singles and fell 6-1, 4-6, 9-11 to Skye Maclean.
