ASHLAND, Va. - Centre women's tennis is on a three-game winning streak after a dominating 8-1 win over Randolph-Macon on Tuesday afternoon in Virginia.
The Colonels now hold a 4-4 overall record and are 2-1 against Division III opponents this spring season.
Tuesday's match marked the fourth-straight match where Centre has swept doubles action. Streaks are the story of the Gold & White team as
Maddy Trinh and
Grace Williams built their win streak to three as the No. 1 duo with an 8-3 victory over Camilla Thurman and Catherine Mowry.
Back-to-back wins are attached to the No. 2 pair of
Kennedy Herring and
Carlie Mitchell after an 8-5 decision over Meckenzie Letellier and Katie Sarnowski. Another perfect record belongs to the third spot duo of
Kayla Harger and
Natalie Black thanks to Tuesday's 8-6 win over Adele Huffman and Matty Grace Gilliam.
Success continued for Williams in singles play as her 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 2 match over Mowry gave her a third-straight win. Trinh is a back-to-back winner with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot. Herring returned to the win column as she fought to a 6-3, 6-0 win versus Sarnowski in the fourth-slotted match. Black won her second straight with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Gilliam. Maddux took the win in the No. 6 game due to an retirement. Mitchell fell in the top seeded match 6-1, 6-1.
