Colonels drop Saturday doubleheader against BSC

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team wrapped up their Easter weekend series against Birmingham-Southern with a Saturday doubleheader. Both of today's games went to the visiting Panthers, who won by scores of 13-4 and 11-5.

Game 1: BSC 13, Centre 4

- After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Colonels got that run right back as Ben Prather blasted one over the left field wall by the scoreboard to quickly tie the score.
- Over the next eight innings, BSC put up a dozen runs, including a three-run homer in the fourth to break it open.
- The Colonels managed three runs in the ninth on a pair of bases loaded walks by Jamie Laframboise and Aaron Lopez, as well as a sac fly by Evan Weyler, but that was as far as the run got.

Game 2: BSC 11, Centre 5

- An early homer and a two-run double put Centre into another hole after two innings, but the Colonels showed signs of life in the bottom of the second. Karson Thompson led off with a double into the gap and a base hit by Lopez put runners on the corners. Weyler lined a double the other way for the first Centre RBI of the game. Prather then smacked a ball into center field that took a massive bounce off the wall that easily scored Weyler and ended up as an inside-the-park home run to make it 4-3.
- In the fourth, Ayden Lohr walked with one out, and then Thompson hit his second double of the game, this time down the right field line as the swift Lohr scored all the way from first to tie the game.
- The Panthers took the lead for good in the third with a clutch three-run homer with two outs, adding to the lead with four more runs in the sixth.
- Centre delivered the final RBI of the game as Laframboise hit an opposite field double to score Josh Cunningham from first.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORES

- The inside-the-park home run by Prather was the first one ever hit inside Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park.
- Prather had an excellent series at the plate with home runs in each of the three games.
