ATLANTA - Centre women's tennis extended its win streak to three on Saturday with a 9-0 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) sweep of Oglethorpe.
The Colonels sit at an even 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the SAA thanks to the win. The victory marks the first sweep of the season for the Gold & White.
In doubles, the hot streak for
Maddy Trinh and
Grace Williams continued as the No. 1 duo won their fourth-straight match thanks to an 8-2 drubbing of Izzy Forster and Adeline Horton.
Carlie Mitchell and
Kennedy Herring are winners of three straight after an 8-1 tally over Brianna Ali and Taylor Glover in the second-ranked battle.
Kayla Harger and
Natalie Black moved to 6-3 in their No. 3 pairing with an 8-6 decision versus Alexis Salgueiro and Maddie Nolen.
Winning streaks of at least two games were secured or added to for all but one Centre singles player at the match. Mitchell defeated Forster in the No. 1 with a come-from-behind victory of 0-6, 6-1, 10-2. Williams won her third consecutive singles match after a 6-1, 6-2 decision versus Salgueiro in the second slot. Trinh picked up her fourth-straight solo win with a 6-2, 6-0 battering of Ali.
Herring tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 match with Nolen. Black moved to 5-1 in the fifth-ranked position in her freshman season as she blanked Glover 6-0, 6-0.
Sophie Maddux earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Horton in the No. 6 set of games.
