CONWAY, Ark. - Centre women's tennis took down Hendrix 7-2 in its second to last Southern Athletic Association (SAA) regular season match of 2024.
The Gold & White hold even marks of 8-8 in overall record and 4-2 in the SAA with one match left before the SAA Tournament.
Doubles action was all Centre as the squad swept all three matches.
Maddy Trinh and
Grace Williams record as the No. 1 duo improved to 9-2 thanks to an 8-5 win against Eleanor Burks and Avery Stephens.
Kayla Harger and
Natalie Black played as the No. 2 duo for the first time this year and came away 8-3 winners over Emma Self and Josie Leffingwell.
Kennedy Herring and
Sophie Maddux took the third duos match by a tally of 8-4 versus Kate Adcox and Taylor Harbin.
Herring moved to 2-0 as the second-ranked Colonel in singles thanks to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Stephens. Trinh got back on the right side of the win column with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Self in the No. 3 match. Black won the fourth slot match by opponent retirement, leading by a tally of 6-1, 1-0 at the time of forfeit. Maddux earned her fourth win of the year in an 8-7 (7-4) win over Adcox
Williams fought hard in the top singles match, but fell to Burks 6-3, 2-6, 1-10. Harger faced the other Gold & White setback with an 8-5 loss to Leffingwell.
