LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Centre baseball team wrapped up their regular season with a trip to Legends Park to take on the Transylvania Pioneers. A rough second inning was the difference in the game as the Colonels fell 9-4 to end the season with a 29-11 record.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After a scoreless opening frame, Transylvania broke loose in the second as a pair of Centre errors contributed to a five-run outburst for the Pioneers, with four of them unearned.
- In the third inning it was Centre's turn to take advantage of a miscue. After a leadoff base hit by
Conner Jackson, a Pioneer error put runners on the corners, and a walk to
Evan Weyler loaded the bases.
Michael Lynch delivered a single that scored a pair of runs, and then
Aaron Lopez and
Chase Austin each walked, with the latter occurring with the bases loaded to drive in another run and cut the lead to5-3.
- The Pioneers led off the bottom of the inning with a solo homer and then tacked on three more in the sixth to go up by six.
- The Colonels bounced back with a run in the seventh as Weyler doubled down the line the other way and another RBI single scored the Centre catcher to make it a 9-4 game.
- Centre made it interesting in the end as they loaded the bases in the ninth with two outs, but failed to get the runners across.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lynch had an efficient night at the plate, going 2-2 with three RBIs and three walks.

Aidan Christmas and
TJ Schira both had strong outings out of the pen as they combined for six strikeouts across four perfect innings.

The Colonels will open postseason play at home on Friday as the SAA Champions play the first in a best-of-three series against the no. 8 seed Millsaps Majors.
