MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - For the fourth-straight season, the Centre men's tennis team is moving on to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament semifinals. The Colonels advanced after taking down Berry 5-1.
The Gold & White team, seeded fourth, swept the doubles portion of the match against the No. 4 Vikings. The duo of
Ty Bush and
Bo Bush won their ninth match of the season as the top-ranked pair with an 8-3 win over Noah Koch and Jace Goode.
Ben Rueff and
Isaac Flanery remained undefeated in No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 decision over Bohdan Higley, and Drayton Matus.
Jasper Gazzo and
Chase Turley earned their fourth-consecutive win with a competitive 8-5 victory in the third-ranked doubles against Jake Chapman and Aiden Benoualid.
A total of three singles matches were played to completion, with two being Centre wins.
Ashton Whitt won the second singles series 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 against Koch to secure his sixth singles win of the year. Flanery won his singles match in a 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 extra set battle with Goode in the No. 4 slot. Rueff fell to Koch in the top slot by a tally of 6-1. 3-6, 4-6.
Ty Bush was leading 6-1, 3-6, 5-4 in an unfinished battle at three with Chapman.
Bo Bush was also on top of his match in the fifth-slot, leading 2-1 over Benoualid when the match was called.
