MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Centre women's tennis clinched a trip to an eighth-consecutive Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament semifinal match with a 5-0 sweep of Millsaps.
Maddy Trinh and
Grace Williams got the Gold & White off to a great start with an 8-2 win over Mary Dabadie and Kiana Everhart in the top-ranked doubles match.
Carlie Mitchell and
Kennedy Herring won the No. 2 match with a thrilling 8-7 (7-3) result over Madison Williams and Camille Fremaux.
Kayla Harger and
Natalie Black secured the sweep of duos action thanks to an 8-5 tally over Segen Lister and Mackenzie Vordick in the third slotted match.
Only two singles matches were played to completion before the match was called for the Colonels. Trinh impressed in the No. 4 slot with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Dabadie. The other finished match was the sixth-ranked battle that Black won 6-2, 7-6 over Lister.
Grace Williams was up in the second set of the No. 2 match versus Madison Williams that was called at 7-5, 2-3. Mitchell was in a competitive battle in the top-spot that ended unfinished with the tally at 7-6 (7-5), 0-1 with Fremaux in the lead.
Kennedy Herring was down 7-6 (7-1), 1-0 in an unfinished singles match in the third slot.
Kayla Harger also was in a match called early which saw the tally at 6-4, 4-1 for Vordick in the fifth slate.
