Colonels fall in SAA Finale

MEMPHIS- The Centre women's lacrosse team traveled south to face Rhodes in the 2024 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Lacrosse Championship game. Although a close opening half, the Lynx pulled away to eliminate Centre by a score of 19-8. 

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Lynx initiated the game, jumping out to 3-0 lead in the opening six minutes. At the nine-minute mark, rookie Ellie Macdonald scored the first of three unbroken goals for the Colonels, Lily Gahm's unassisted score following. Emma Botts closed the stretch with the tying goal, making it 3-3 with four minutes to go. Rhodes reeled off a trio of unanswered goals, moving the score to 6-3 entering period two. 
- A goal from Ella Treinen opened the second period but just after, the Colonels fell silent for nearly 15-minutes. Tallying two goals to close the half, Rhodes led 8-4 entering the break.
- The Lynx carried their momentum into the next half, outscoring Centre 11-4 in the two remaining quarters. Haley Rice entered the scoring column with a woman-down goal early in the third. Later goals from Sophia Richardson and Rice allowed the Colonels to come within six entering the final frame. 
- The Lynx secured the game in the final 15-minutes, pulling away with six unanswered goals. Treinen closed the game's scoring with a goal in the final nine seconds, moving the score to 18-9 in the Lynx's favor. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gahm and Treinen led Centre in goals, each having two.
- Rice fronted the Colonels in points with four total, one goal, three assists. 
- Treinen led the Gold & White in draw control possessions with six.
- In goal, Mary Haley stopped 14 of the Lynx's shots.
