Senior Day an 8-1 winner for men’s tennis

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's tennis team celebrated its seniors with an 8-1 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) result over Millsaps College. 

The Colonels ended Saturday with a 6-7 overall tally and an even 1-1 SAA record. 

Senior Bo Bush picked up a win in No. 1 doubles with his brother Ty Bush. That pair won 8-6 over Sam Tuli and Carson Chassaignac. The third-ranked doubles team of Ashton Whitt and Tanner Ray, both seniors and paired together for the first time this season, won 8-2 over Brady St. Martin and Sam Willard. The number two pair of Jasper Gazzo and Chase Turley fell 8-7 to Anderson Dulaney and Jakub Bobinski in a match that went to a 7-5 tiebreaker. 

Singles play was a sweep for the host Gold & White team. Ben Rueff's record as the No. 1 for Centre moved to the positive after a 7-5, 7-6 win over Chassaignac. Ty Bush is the holder of three-straight wins after a 6-2, 7-6 decision over Dulaney in No. 2 singles. Whitt won 6-2, 6-4 versus Bobinski. 

The back half of singles play included some large margin wins for the Colonels. Isaac Flanery tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tuli in the No. 4 match which moved him to 6-4 overall this season. Bo Bush won 6-1, 6-1 in the fifth-ranked match over St. Martin. Jett Anderson won his first singles game of the year with a 6-0, 6-3 result over Willard in the final singles slot.

Centre men's tennis plays its final home match of 2024 tomorrow. The Colonels host Birmingham-Southern at 9 a.m. at the Centre Outdoor Tennis Courts.
