DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre junior
Ben Prather was named a preseason All-American at the utility position by d3baseball.com, the organization announced earlier this morning.
Prather enters the 2025 season coming off an historic sophomore campaign that saw him become the first Centre baseball All-American in program history and was one of the key pieces of the greatest Centre baseball season ever as the Colonels won the Southern Athletic Association regular season and tournament, advancing to their first ever NCAA Tournament.
Playing outfield, third base and designated hitter in 2024, Prather was an offensive force as a sophomore, as he ranked in the top ten in the SAA in 13 different statistical categories, leading the conference and setting a new single season program record with 57 RBIs. In the conference tournament against Millsaps, Prather sent the Colonels into the next round with a walk-off three-run home run in the ninth inning.
As a pitcher, Prather tied for the league lead with eight wins while ranking second in ERA and fifth in strikeouts despite playing in a majority of seven-inning contests. He earned weekly honors from the SAA on four different occasions, two each for offense and pitching.
