Men's track finishes second at Centre Indoor Showcase

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's track & field returned to Champions Hall for the second time this indoor season against a field of 15 teams from multiple divisions. The Centre men finished second overall, but first among Division III teams in the field.
 
The Colonels finished with a team score of 104 points in today's competition, 11 points shy of first place Campbellsville. Tennessee Wesleyan, Berry and Kentucky State rounded out the top five in order.
 
Hurdles record holder Dirk Gambrel picked up another school record, this time in the 300m as he posted a time of 35.59, adjusted to 35.00 for a new men's program record. Also in that race, Corbin Ison placed seventh overall with a time of 37.17. Gambrel also raced in the 60m hurdles and finished third with a time of 8.67, with Nick Whitlow taking sixth place in the same event.
 
In the mile, Jacob Lloyd finished eighth overall with a time of 4:45.96.
 
The men's 400m saw Jackson Heim finish second overall – first among D3 runners – with a time of 50.14, with Hunter Foster taking sixth place. In the 200m, Heim was the only Division III runner to score as he placed seventh with a time of 22.99.
 
In the long jump, Whitlow picked up the win as he posted a mark of 22-2.25, with Cree Ross taking third place with a mark of 21-7. After finishing third in the triple jump, Ross earned a victory in the triple jump as he set a Champions Hall record with a mark of 46-5. Philippe N'Dia took seventh place with a mark of 42-9.75. In the high jump, Isaac Johnson finished second overall – first among Division III athletes – with a clear of 6-0.75. The Centre men had four scoring marks in the pole vault, led by All-American Logan Isaacs, who finished second with a clear of 15-9. Whitlow, Alex Hibbens and Eden Silver all cracked the scoring column alongside Isaacs to give Centre 22 points as a team in the pole vault.
 
In throws, freshman David Harless led all Division III Athletes with a mark of 47-11.25 in the shot put, good for third place. Freshman Luke Cole finished shortly behind Harless with a throw of 46-9.5 for fourth place.

The Centre men's track & field team will return to action on Feb. 1 as they travel to Wittenberg to compete in the Steemer Showcase.
