Women's Soccer suffered its first shutout of the season last Sunday at Rhodes in the SAA opener. The Colonels also suffered the same fate on Saturday at Trinity as the offense stalled once more in a 2-0 loss.
Claire Mullen had the first chance at goal for either side in the 17th minute but was denied by the Trinity keeper.
Alexis Kronenthal tried one from distance in the 18th minute but was high and wide of the target. Centre kept applying pressure on both ends as
Zara McCarthy looked for the icebreaker in the 28th minute but was turned away.
Madeline Redmon soon followed with her first save of the night in the 30th. Kronenthal tried again in the 36th minute. While this go was on goal, Trinity's keeper was on the spot for the stop. The attempt would also prove to be the last of the day for the Colonels. Trinity took advantage in the 40th minute off a corner kick and was able to slip the ball by Redmon for a 1-0 lead. Trinity went for a second goal before halftime but Redmon was able to get a paw up and flick the ball over the bar.
Trinity added the second goal in the 56th minute to double its lead. Redmon then delivered a diving stop in the 60th minute to keep Centre within reach. Another terrific save came in the 63rd as Trinity went for the upper corner but Redmon swatted it away.
In total,
Madeline Redmon stopped 4 shots to keep the Colonels afloat, but the offense could not muster enough quality chances to get back in the game.
The Colonels return to Amend Field on Homecoming weekend to take on Southwestern. Kickoff next Saturday is set for Noon.
