Centre men tied for tenth through 36 at Chick-Fil-A Invite

ROME, Ga. - The Centre men's golf team embarked on the final tournament of the fall portion of their schedule as they competed in the Chick-Fil-A Invitational. Through the first two rounds of play, the Colonels sit in a tie for tenth place.

Centre posted opening day scores of 306 and 301 to tie with LaGrange in tenth overall. The Colonels are one shot back of Emory and four back of Virginia Wesleyan going into Tuesday's final round.

Individually, Peyton Toon leads the way for the Centre men as he posted scores of 76 and 70 to finish in 14th place overall with a 36-hole score of 146. Toon's score of 70 in the second round was the lowest score posted any Centre player on Monday and featured five birdies, including three on the back nine.

Harrison Akers posted a two-round score of 148 to crack the individual top 25 in 22nd place. Akers shot 73 in round 1 thanks to going one under par on the back nine and followed it with a score of 75 in round two.

Ben Bevington was next in line for the Colonels as he finished with a score of 156. Bevington improved by four shots between rounds to post a score of 76 in round two with a birdie on the par 3 12th hole. Charlie Reber finished one shot back of Bevington with a score of 157. Reber's lowest score of the day was in the first round as he shot 77 after going even par on the back nine.

Andrew Mainka rounded out Centre's totals for the opening day with a 36-hole score of 168. Evan Avret entered as an individual and shot 164 through the first two rounds.

The Chick-Fil-A Invite will wrap up on Tuesday.
