DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's track & field team returned to action after a week off as they hosted the Centre Indoor Invite and Multis. Five new program records were established as the Colonels dominated in a complete team victory.

On Friday, the Colonels knocked out a school record on the men's side as the team of Carter Russell, Dirk Gambrel, Jacob Lloyd and Reeve VanDemark posted a time of 10:24.87 in the distance medley relay to break the record set in 2024.

The Colonels also racked up 27 points as a team in the men's 5k. James Schroeder earned the victory with a time of 15:33.34, with Ike Synnestvedt, Baxter Keith, Aidan Taylor and Joe Brandel all getting into the scoring column as well.

Moving onto Saturday, the first scored event of the day was the long jump and Cree Ross took second place with a mark of 21-11.5, with Isaac Johnson also cracking the top eight. Ross did one better in the triple jump as he got the win with a mark of 47-2.5, with Carter Chandler also cracking the top eight.

In the 60m hurdles, Gambrel finished fractions of a second away from matching his school record as he got the win with a time of 8.56.

The men's high jump saw yet another program record go down as Johnson picked up the victory by clearing 6-5.25, breaking the record mark of 6-4.75 shared by Chrys Jones in 2008, Elijah Scott in 2016 and Michael Smith in 2024.

In the mile, Cole Roberson picked up a point for the Colonels as he finished eighth with a time of 4:37.56. In the 400m, Jackson Heim came close to his school record time in the race as he clocked in at 49.62 post conversion to finish second. Heim and Gambrel were the only Division III runners to finish in the top eight in the 400. Heim was also the fastest runner for Centre in the 200m, finishing fifth with a time of 23.01, with Mario Brewer Jr. finishing seventh. In the 60m, Brewer and Ross each posted times of 7.12 to finish a respective fourth and fifth, separated by 0.006 seconds.

VanDemark and Russell continued their strong meet into the Saturday session as they were the only D3 competitors to clock in under two minutes in the 800m, posting respective third and fourth place finishes.

In throws, David Harless, who has set the indoor program record in the shot put twice already, put his name in the record books once again as he posted a mark of 54-6 in the weight throw, breaking the record set by JD Dotson in 2018 by six inches. Xavier Hayden finished seventh in the weight throw to give Centre the top two marks by Division III throwers in the event. Harless later competed in the shot put and finished second with a throw of 47-3.75, with Tyler Vaughn and Dajuan Wardell also scoring in that event.

Yet another record fell in the pole vault as All-American Logan Isaacs surpassed 17 feet for the first time in his career, clearing 17-0.75 to break his prior school record by four inches. Alex Hibbens and Eden Silver each finished in the top five as well to rack up 23 points for the Colonels in the pole vault.

Finally, in a grueling competition that lasted through both days of the meet, Nick Whitlow set a new program record in the heptathlon with a total of 5,072 points, besting the high mark he set last season by over 200 points.
