Isaacs sets career best mark in pole vault at Wittenberg Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Centre men's track & field team hit the road for the last time before the conference championships as they competed against a field of teams from all divisions at the Wittenberg Invitational. The unscored meet had several strong performances from the Centre men, including yet another program record in the pole vault by Logan Isaacs.

The three-time All-American had the best vault of his storied Centre career as he cleared 17-1 to get the win in the event. After tonight's jump, Isaacs currently ranks second in all of Division III in the pole vault.

In other jumping events, Jacob Rogers finished third overall in the triple jump as he posted a mark of 42-4.75.

Moving onto sprints, Blake Busson had the best time for the Colonels in the 60m as the All-SAA wide receiver from the 2024 football season finished second overall with a time of 6.98. In the 200m, Dirk Gambrel cracked the individual top ten with a time of 22.70. Gambrel later raced in the 60m hurdles and finished third with a time of 8.43, with Justin Lewis finishing right behind him in 8.45.

In the middle and long distance races, Reeve VanDemark finished tenth overall in the 800m with a time of 1:56.99. In the men's 5k Baxter Keith took seventh place overall with a time of 16:12.42.

Finally, in the throwing events, David Harless had another fine meet as the freshman finished second in the shot put and tenth in the weight throw with respective marks of 49-3.5 and 50-8.

The Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 inside Champions Hall.
