ATLANTA- On Tuesday morning, the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced its yearly All-Conference awards for the 2024-25 season, Centre being honored with one major award and three additional selections.
Senior
Bailey Rucker headlines the Colonels' post season awards as the 2024-25 SAA Athlete of the Year, adding a First Team nod. In her senior season, the Catlettsburg native averaged 16.7 points a game which ranked her second in the league. In the win over Hendrix (Feb. 29), Rucker netted a career high of 29 points which was the most points scored in a single game for the entire conference this season. In the SAA, Rucker ranks fourth for her percentages in both field goals and free-throw, registering a .453 percent from the floor and a .792 percent from the line. So far this season, the senior has scored 385 points, assisted 34, stolen 26, blocked seven, and taken 130 off the glass.
Lilly Reid and
Ka'Niah Edelen made their debuts on the All-SAA rosters. Reid is Centre's sole representative on Second Team All-SAA. In her sophomore regular season campaign, Reid ranked fifth in the league for total assists with 84 and seventh for total scoring with 319 points. On Jan. 9
th, the Kentucky native netted a career high of 24 points in the win over SAA's Oglethorpe.
Edelen grew to be an offensive threat for the Colonels this season placing her on the SAA Honorable-Mention roster. Within the program, Edelen was the third highest scorer with 169 point and carried the second most assists with 61.
Senior
Emma Perna represented the Colonels well as a member to the 2024-25 SAA All-Sportsmanship team.
The Colonels will continue their 2024-25 campaign in the SAA. After beating Hendrix for in the SAA Quarterfinals, Centre advanced to the Semifinals where they'll face Sewanee on Saturday, February 29
th, at 7 p.m. ET.
