SATURDAY RECAP
DANVILLE, Ky. -Â The Centre men's track & field team had a dominant performance at the 2025 Southern Athletic Indoor Championships as they led all the way en route to their second consecutive conference title.
The Saturday session began with the field events and the Colonels set the tone. In the pole vault, All-American
Logan Isaacs picked up the win as he set a championship meet record by clearing 16-3.75.
Nick Whitlow finished in third place, followed by
Eden Silver in fourth and
Alex Hibbens in sixth to give the Centre men 24 big points.
In the triple jump,
Cree Ross earned his second victory of the championship meet as the sophomore transfer posted a mark of 46-10.5 to get the win.
Philippe N'Dia finished third,
Jacob Rogers finished fourth and
Carter Chandler finished eighth to give Centre half of the scoring field.
The lone throwing event of the day was the shot put and
David Harless picked up his second podium finish of the weekend, posting a mark of 48-5 to take second place overall, followed by
Luke Cole in fifth and
Dajuan Wardell in seventh.
The first middle distance race of the Saturday session was the mile and Centre's
Reeve VanDemark finished in third place with a mark of 4:23.55, with
Carter Russell taking seventh place.
In the 60m hurdles,
Dirk Gambrel finished in second place, shattering his prior program record with a time of 8.34. He was closely followed by
Justin Lewis in third 0.01 seconds later, with Whitlow adding a sixth place finish.
The men's 400m saw the Colonels post a 2-3-4 finish, with
Jackson Heim's time of 49.72 earning second place, followed by Gambrel and
Hunter Foster in that order and
Corbin Ison in sixth.
In the 60m, Ross paced the Colonels with a time of 7.01, followed by
Blake Busson in fifth and
Mario Brewer Jr. in seventh as Centre football was well represented in the sprint department.
The Centre men posted a 3-4-5 finish in the 800m. VanDemark picked up his second straight third place finish of the day with a time of 1.59.99, with Russell taking fourth place and
Noah George in fifth.
In the 200m, the Colonels did not get the win, but they did have each of the next five finishers in the race as Heim, Gambrel, Busson, Ison and Brewer finished 2-6 in that order to give Centre 26 of the 38 points in the race.
The men's 3000m saw
James Schroeder post the best time for the Colonels as he clocked in at 8:51.64 to finish in fourth, followed by
Mitchel Meier in sixth and
Luke Napier in seventh.
Finally, in the 4x400m relay, the Colonels got one last win as Ison, Foster, Gambrel and Heim set a new championship meet record with a time of 3:26.53.

DANVILLE, Ky. – Champions Hall at Centre played host to the opening day of events at the Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field as the Centre men's team looked to repeat as conference champions. The Colonels jumped out to a big lead after the first day of events.

Centre ended Friday's events with 83 points to land in first place, 47 points ahead of second place Berry.

To kick off the Friday session, there were three field events that produced major points for the Colonels, starting with the weight throw. Freshman
David Harless made it onto the podium with a throw of 48-8 to finish third.
Luke Cole (47-7),
Terique Murphy-Adams (46-10) and
Xavier Hayden (44-7) all made it into the scoring column as well to give the Centre men 16 points for the event.

Next came the long jump and Centre posted a 1-2-3 finish.
Cree Ross got the win with a mark of 23-1.25, followed by
Nick Whitlow at 22-6.5 and
Isaac Johnson at 22-1.75.
Carter Chandler finished in eighth place at 20-10.5 to give Centre half of the scorers in the event and 25 total points.

In the high jump,
Michael Smith set a new championship meet record with a clear of 6-5.5. Johnson, who set the previous school record three weeks ago, finished second at 6-3.5, with Whitlow taking fourth place to rack up 22 more points for Centre.

The evening got started with the men's 5k and Centre finished with the most points in the race.
Mitchel Meier finished third with a time of 15:29.61, finishing in a pack with
James Schroeder in fourth and
Ike Synnestvedt in fifth to give Centre 15 points.

The night concluded with the distance medley relay and the team of
Liam Black,
Teague Roth,
Cole Roberson and
Jacob Lloyd came in fourth place with a time of 10:45.38.
