Men's golf closes in 16th at Cochran Collegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- On Tuesday, Centre men's golf entered their final round of their regular season play. Taking on 18-holes in day two of the Cochran Collegiate, the Colonels held firm to finish 16th overall with a team score of 950 (333-305-312). 

No. 9 Oglethorpe finished first overall with a team score of 899 while No. 10 Lynchburg took second with a combined mark of 904. Babson rounded out the top three with a score of 913. 

Harrison Akers jumped 16 spots to land in a tie for 28th overall with a completed score of 232 (82-75-75). At the end of his play, the junior ranked fourth in the tournament for par 4s, averaging 4.17. The Colonel also tallied the third most birdies with a grand total of ten. 

Evan Avret also made his way up the individual leaderboard, improving five seeds to tie for 35th with a final mark of 234 (84-72-78). After three rounds, the rookie ranked fourth out of 90 athletes for total pars with 36. 

Charlie Morgan put together a score of 238 (81-77-80) to land in a tie for 57th

Cameron Bassel continuously improved between every round, shaving seven strokes off between rounds one and three. With a final score of 246 (86-81-79), the Colonel tied for 75th.

Jack Butts held steady in 88th place, finishing with a completed mark of 253 (88-82-83). 
 
MONDAY RECAP
On Monday, the Centre men's golf team opened their play in the Cochran Collegiate, hosted by Rhodes College. After 36-holes, the Colonels rest in 16th with a team score of 638 (333-305).

Babson rests in first with a combined mark of 599 (306-293) while Lynchburg sits in second with a team score of 601 (299-302). Oglethorpe rounds out the top three with a combined mark of 603 (303-300).
 
Evan Avret led the Colonels through day one, landing in a tie for 40th with a completed score of 156 (84-72). At the end of his 36-holes, the rookie ranked fifth on the individual leaderboard for his number of pars with 24 total.

Harrison Akers was the final Colonel to crack the top 50, tying for 44th with a combined mark of 157 (82-75). Ahead of day two, Akers ranks second on the individual leaderboard for birdies with seven. The junior also ranks fifth
for par 4s, averaging 4.10.

Charlie Morgan landed in a tie for 53rd with a score of 158 (81-77). The senior shot no worse than a bogey in round two to shave four strokes off between his two rounds. 

Rounding out the Colonels line-up, Cameron Bassel presently rests in a tie for 83rd with a score of 167 (86-81) while Jack Butts sits in a tie for 88th with a combined mark of 170 (88-82).
