DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre baseball began a huge series in conference play against the Berry Vikings with the first of three games on Saturday. Centre fell behind and their comeback came up one run short as Berry got the win by a score of 4-3.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Berry scored the opening run of the game in the first inning.
Ben Prather led off the game with a single for the Colonels, but that proved to be Centre's last hit for the next seven innings as the Vikings scored runs in the third, sixth and ninth to take a 4-0 lead.
- The Centre offense awoke in the ninth as
Ayden Lohr and
Jonah Porter led off the inning with base hits.
Evan Weyler came up next and blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall to cut the lead to one run. A deep fly ball by
Graham Johnson resulted in a diving catch by Berry to save extra bases, and Centre only managed one more baserunner after that.
