ATLANTA - Earlier today the Southern Athletic Association released its postseason awards for the 2025 baseball season and Centre was well represented, with seven players making the all-conference squads.
Junior All-American
Ben Prather was named First Team All-SAA once again as a utility man. Playing six different positions this year, Prather led the Colonels in batting average, OPS, hits, doubles and stolen bases and was a tone setter for the lineup after moving into the leadoff position halfway through the season. Prather also had another excellent season on the mound for the Colonels, posting a 6-0 record in nine starts while recording 52 strikeouts and a 2.56 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .226 average. During the season, Prather received weekly honors from the SAA on separate occasions as an offensive player and a pitcher.
Sophomore center fielder
Ayden Lohr joined Prather on the All-SAA First Team. After hitting in the no. 9 spot in the lineup last season, Lohr moved to the top of the order this season before settling into the no. 3 spot in the lineup during the second half of the season, a time that saw him catch fire at the plate. Lohr hit .347 and tied for the team lead in both runs and RBIs. His 11 home runs are the second most in a single season by a Centre player, and he has put together the longest hitting streak for the Colonels this season, recording a hit in each of the last 15 games.
The Colonels had four more players make All-SAA Second Team Honors, starting with sophomore starting pitcher
Harrison Cowdrey. Last season's SAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Cowdrey went 5-2 this season and led the Centre starting pitchers with a 2.43 ERA and 62 strikeouts. Cowdrey recorded five or more strikeouts in eight of 11 starts this season.
Junior reliever
Zach Heavern was the final Centre pitcher on the All-SAA Second Team. Heavern made 17 appearances for the Colonels out of the pen, tops on the team. In those games, he led Centre with a 2.05 ERA and recorded 52 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched. All but one of Heavern's outing's was at least two innings and he was named SAA Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 3 after striking out 12 in 6.1 innings across three appearances.
Junior second baseman was another All-SAA Second Teamer for the Colonels. A threat at the bottom of the order, Lopez was the toughest hitter on the Centre team to strike out this season. He hit .342 on the year with five homers and 25 RBIs and became lethal in the clutch down the stretch for Centre, delivering a game-winning double against Spalding and a game-tying home run to go with four RBIs against Sewanee in the SAA Tournament.
Junior catcher
Evan Weyler was the final Second Team All-SAA selection for Centre. Starting all 37 games behind the plate, Weyler hit .333 for the year and tied Lohr for the team lead with 32 RBIs and 42 runs scored. During the opening round of SAA Tournament play, Weyler was the best player on the field, hitting .875 across two games with one home run, four RBIs and six runs scored, including the winning run on a wild pitch to end game 1.
Junior
Baylor Woodall was Centre's lone selection on the All-SAA Honorable Mention squad. After missing all of his sophomore season due to injury, Woodall started all but one game as a junior, hitting .328 with four home runs and 27 RBIs. His homers had a flair for the dramatic as he had a grand slam against Rose-Hulman and his three-run shot against Sewanee put the Colonels up for good in the SAA opening round clincher.
Finally, junior pitcher
Ethan McGriff was voted as Centre's representative on the SAA All-Sportsmanship team this season.
