JACKSON, Miss. - The Centre baseball team began second round play in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament at Millsaps, where the Colonels faced the no. 3 seed Rhodes Lynx. The Centre offense stagnated and the Colonels committed four errors in a 5-0 loss.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening innings belonged to the starting pitchers as
Harrison Cowdrey held the Lynx scoreless through the first four frames.
- In the fifth, Rhodes broke the ice with a leadoff solo homer to make it a 1-0 game. Cowdrey retired the next three and then induced a double play to face the minimum batters in the sixth.
- Rhodes put runners on the corners in the seventh after a leadoff walk and an error. A single made it a 2-0 game, and then three Centre errors led to three more runs crossing the plate.
- Centre managed only two more baserunners the rest of the way on a
Jonah Porter single and an
Ayden Lohr walk, but neither could reach scoring position.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre managed just four hits for the game. Porter was the only player to finish with multiple hits and was also the only Centre player to reach scoring position during the game.
