SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Centre men's track & field team brought a partial squad to Wittenberg to compete in the Steemer Indoor Showcase against a field of teams from all divisions. The Colonels finished 14th overall, but the meet still provided a number of highlights, including one more school record going down.
The record that fell this time for the Colonels came in the 800m as
Carter Russell posted a time of 1:56.18 in the race, besting the previous program record he set in 2024 by over half a second.
All but four of Centre's points from today's meet came in the jumping events. In the high jump, school record holder
Tykeem Taul-Williams cleared 6-2.75 (1.5m) to tie for eighth place overall. The long jump saw
Mario Brewer Jr. post a mark of 21-10.75 (6.67m), which was a new personal best mark and good for sixth place overall. In the triple jump, the Colonels picked up their lone win of the day as All-American
Cree Ross posted a mark of 47-5 (14.45m) to give the Centre men ten points in the event.
The final points of the day for the Colonels were scored in the shot put as
David Harless finished fifth overall in the event with a mark of 49-0.25 (14.94m).
