ATLANTA - No. 8 Centre volleyball again made quick work of an opponent in conference play as they knocked off the Millsaps Majors in straight sets to improve to 15-1 on the season and 7-1 in the SAA.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set saw the Colonels put forth another outstanding offensive effort, hitting .452 as a team. Centre's only deficit was 1-0 after the first point of the game as Centre quickly grabbed the lead and kept it the rest of the way, pulling ahead to a 25-18 win as
Elise Grundy and
Kendra Christopher delivered the final kills of the set.
- In the second set, both teams played well and traded the lead back and forth. Holding onto an 18-17 advantage, Centre scored the next six points to go up by seven. Millsaps fought off the first two set points, but Grundy came through with the clinching kill to give Centre the 25-19 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Millsaps held the early lead in the third set and kept it until the midway point before Centre rallied to take the advantage at 15-14. The match stayed close from there, with Millsaps cutting the deficit to two on several occasions. A kill from
Mack Turner made it 24-20 and after withstanding a pair of match points, the next Millsaps serve went awry to wrap up Centre's fifth straight match win and 14th straight set win.
