Centre falls in second meeting against Trinity

Danville, KY------ at the beginning it seemed to be a tight battle but Centre falls in second meeting against Trinity, Final score 64-53.

It was a physical, defense-heavy opening ten minutes as Trinity and Centre met for the second time in the span of a week. Both teams went toe-to-toe from the tip, with Trinity's defensive pressure causing early problems for Centre, with Dana Gingrey and Jailyn Martin jumping passing lanes and turning steals into scoring chances. Centre answered, having a strong offensive pressure at the glass, getting second-chance looks from Lilly Reid and Trinity Armour to keep things tight.

It seemed to be a struggle for both teams to find a consistent rhythm offensively, as fouls and missed shots slowed the pace. Tigers Skye O'Rourke provided a spark for Trinity with strong drives to the basket, but neither side could pull away as they head into the second quarter with Trinity ahead by a narrow 17-15.

Centre came out fo the quarter break with energy, striking first and briefly grabbing momentum by quick ball movement and strong interior play from Lilly Reid. Trinity responded by settling in defensively and answering with timely baskets from Livy Sauvageau and Allison Even, keeping the game within one possession.

By halftime, the teams remained locked in a tight contest, with Centre holding a narrow edge after a physical second quarter.

Coming out of the half, both teams were turning up the defensive pressure, trading steals and forcing early turnovers as neither side found rhythm right away. Centre briefly gained an edge behind steady inside scoring from Lindsay Jessie and continued playmaking from Lilly Reid. Still, the tigers answered with hustle and second-chance opportunities, led by Allison Even on the glass.

As time ticked down, Trinity began to build momentum. Kylie Minet knocked down key jumpers, and Sauvageau provided a spark with timely shooting, including a big three that helped swing the energy. With the energy, the tigers were able to battle back and close the quarter out ahead by four heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was all Trinity as they took control early and never looked back, opening the quarter with defensive stops and capitalizing at the free-throw line to build a double-digit cushion. Scott and Greenwood helped set the tone on both ends, while Trinity's defense forced Centre into tough possessions and multiple turnovers.

Centre had an attempt rally behind Lilly Reids' scoring and playmaking, knocking down a key three midway through the quarter, but Trinity answered every push. Sauvageau delievered the knockout blows, drilling back-to-back three pointers to strech the lead and ignite the bench.

in the end, Trinity had built too big a lead for Centre to mount a comeback. Centre falls to Trinity 64- 53.
