DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's track & field returned to action after a week off as they hosted the Centre Indoor Invite and Multis against a field of schools across all divisions. The Colonels took second place as they finished with 132 points for the meet, with two more school records falling by the wayside.
Beginning with the sprints,
Jayden Channer led the Colonels in the 60m as he finished second overall with a time of 6.91, with
Jackson Heim in sixth place. In the 200m, Centre's top time belonged to
Brayden Carman, who finished in fifth place in 23.09. The 400 saw the first school record of the meet fall as
Beau Brown got the win with a time of 49.44 to set the new program high mark, with Heim finishing in second in 49.6 and
Stephen Jones in eighth.
In the 800m,
Reeve VanDemark finished fourth overall with a time of 2:00.39. VanDemark also raced in the mile and surpassed his 2025 school record in the race by nearly three seconds as he posted a time of 4:20.88 to finish fourth overall once again.
The Friday session featured the men's 5k and Centre had two of the top three finishers as
Ike Synnestvedt place second with a time of 16:02.24, followed by
Aidan Taylor in third place.
In the 60m hurdles,
Julian Veliquette earned a split-second victory with a time of 8.49, with
Justin Lewis finishing third in 8.50.
The men's 4x400m relay saw Heim and Jones team up with
Austin Cranmore and
Aiden Finley to finish second overall with a combined time of 3:30.86, less than half a second behind first place.
Moving to the jumping events, the Centre men had the top two marks in the high jump. School record holder
Tykeem Taul-Williams and
Michael Smith each cleared 6-5.5 (1.97m), with Taul-Williams getting the first place score for getting his clear in one fewer attempt.
In the long jump, All-American
Cree Ross finished in fifth place with a mark of 21-10.75 (6.67m), with
Isaac Johnson taking sixth place. Ross later competed in the triple jump and finished second overall with his second best indoor mark ever at 48-2.5 (14.69m), with Taul-Williams in fourth place and
Jacob Rogers in eighth.
Centre also picked up points in both throwing events.
David Harless finished fifth overall in the shot put with a mark of 50-11.5 (15.53m), with
Luke Cole taking seventh place. In the weight throw, Harless finished in seventh place with a mark of 54-4 (16.56m).

The Colonels will have one more meet before the SAA Indoor Track Championships as they will compete in the Wittenberg Invite on Feb. 21.
