ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association released its weekly awards for track & field for meets held through Apr. 12 and Centre came away with three of this week's awards after record-setting performances at the Berry Field Day.
Serena McNeilly was named SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week. McNeilly competed in the women's heptathlon this weekend for Centre at the Berry Field Day and Multis, taking first place in the grueling event. Her 4,795 points broke her previous school record in the heptathlon by nearly 400 points. As part of the heptathlon, McNeilly set another program record in the high jump as she cleared 5-8.5 (1.74m). McNeilly currently ranks third nationally in the high jump and eighth in the heptathlon, leading the SAA in both.
Michael Smith was named SAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Smith set a new personal best outdoor mark in the men's high jump for Centre at the Berry Field Day and Multis this past weekend as he regained the school record in the event. Smith cleared 6-7.5 (2.02m) to get the win in the event, helping the Colonels cruise to a team victory. Smith currently leads the SAA in the high jump and is tied for 15th in all of Division III.
Finally, the Centre men's 4x100m relay squad earned SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors. The team ofÂ

Jayden Channer made program history on Saturday at the Berry Field Day as they combined for a time of 41.33 to win the race and break the previous Centre men's track record that had stood since 2021. The group currently leads the SAA in the 4x100m relay and is ranked 19th nationally.
The Centre track teams will return to action on Apr. 17 with the Centre Twilight.
