Lexington, Ky. - Centre Women's Soccer extended its unbeaten start to 2026 on Wednesday night after a 1-1 draw at Transylvania.
Centre's first go on goal came from
Claire Cavacini in the 10th minute, but the shot was saved. She had another look at her first tally of 2026 in the 20th minute, which was also denied at the doorstep. After a series of subs, Transy was called for a foul in the box in the 35th minute.
Brooke Beasley stepped to the spot and buried her 2nd penalty of the young season to give Centre a 1-0 lead going to halftime.
The Pioneers started the second half aggressive with the ball.
Madeline Redmon had to make key saves in teh 49th and 52nd minutes to preserve the lead. Centre's defense slowly settled in as both teams would struggle to find looks for much of the half. Cavacini had another try for Centre in the 75th minute that was turned aside. Just 31 seconds later,
Hannah Hogg had a golden chance at a goal, but the Pioneer defense kept the ball out. Cavacini had another chance in the 76th minute, but her strike drilled the crossbar and was cleared away. Transy avoided the dagger and turned the game on its head. In the 78th minute, the Pioneers took possession and were able to navigate to the Centre box and find a shot to tie the game at 1. The Colonels had two more chances in the final minutes but could not capitalize and had to settle for the draw.
The Colonels will look to get back in the win column on Sunday when they travel west to take on North Central. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
