Warren Wilson joined the Centre football staff in the spring of 2018 as defensive backs coach. Prior to the 2019 season, he took over as the Colonels' Special Teams Coordinator. He is also a staff representative on the Student-Athlete Diversity Board.
In 2019, his unit was headlined by two All-SAA selections in Cal Lewellyn and Luc Gendreau, with the former also garnering All-Region honors for the third time in his career.
During his first season, Centre went 10-2 overall and reached the NCAA Division III Playoffs. He helped Lewellyn gain All-American status and saw five defensive backs claim All-SAA honors.
Prior to coming to Danville, Wilson spent two seasons at NCAA Division II Kentucky State University in Frankfort as the Linebacker Coach, Defensive Signal Caller and Video Coordinator.
While with the Thorobreds, Wilson mentored Trevon Spencer, who earned All-Conference, All-Super Region and Honorable Mention All-America honors.
From 2010 to 2014, Wilson coached in the high school and college ranks primarily working with secondaries. Wilson also has Division III experience, having spent time at LaGrange College in the USA South Conference as Special Team’s Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, Secondary Coach and Junior Varsity Head Coach.
As LaGrange College defensive backs coach, Wilson worked and developed All-Conference corner Brandon Penn and safety Scott Chewning
As a dual-sport student-athlete, Wilson competed in football and track & field at the University of Kentucky. He earned his first varsity football letter as a freshman in 2001, playing in 10 games at corner and on special teams. Although untimely injuries plagued him, Wilson finished his Division I career playing in 21 games while totaling 27 tackles.
Wilson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Kentucky in 2006, followed with a Masters of Public Administration in 2018 from Kentucky State University and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
A native of Texas, Wilson was a four-year letterman in track & field and three-year letterman in football at Texas City High School.Â
