Earned multiple letters at A.C. Reynolds High School, competing in wrestling and track & field along with football … Second Team All-Conference as a senior on the gridiron, helping the Rockets finish 14-2 overall as 3AA State Runners-up … Won three consecutive conference titles in football, going 26-7 overall across his three varsity seasons … Regional qualifier as a heavyweight wrestler and shot put thrower …  Went 15-7 and was seeded fourth in the Western Regional wrestling tournament … Had PRs in shot put and discus of 40 ft. 8.5 in. and 96 ft., respectively … Earned the Dick Ayers Memorial Scholarship, was an AP Scholar and member of the National Honor Society.
