Centre College Athletics

Claire Russell is a junior from Louisville, Kentucky, majoring in Biology with minors in Spanish and Health and Medical Studies. She is the daughter of Dave Russell and Amy Anaya and plays guard/forward for Centre. Claire is involved in Tri Delta and Women’s Basketball and has earned SAA Academic Honor Roll recognition while at Centre.

She chose Centre because of the endless opportunities to grow as both a student and an athlete. She values being able to compete in college athletics while also being involved in a sorority, focus on academics, and take advantage of the resources available to help her pursue a future career in the medical field. Claire also appreciates Centre’s small class sizes and the strong relationships she has been able to build with her professors. She says she is continually pushed to be her best self in all areas of her life at Centre.

In high school, Claire was named Athlete of the Year and earned the LIT Best Defensive Player award, the KABC Patty Jo Hedges Ultimate Teammate Award, and District All-Tournament Team honors. She has not yet participated in a study abroad program.
