Colonels power past Saints in regular season finale

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre wrapped up the 2018 regular season Monday evening, overwhelming Thomas More in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory at Andrew P. Amend Field.

Four goals in the final period helped the Colonels improve to 12-4-1 overall, avenging a loss last season to the Saints, who fall to 4-10-2 with the defeat.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Will Newton nearly scored early, but his header off of Nick Mazzarella's feed went high of the crossbar.
- Bailey Spade's diving save in the 13th minute kept the score even, and the two sides went into the half tied at 0-0.
- Jacob Haddad opened the scoring in the 49th minute after shaking a handful of defenders and finding the back of the net.
- After nearly connecting on a header in the 65th minute, Alexander Garuba put Centre ahead 2-0 in the 67th on an assist by Newton.
- Garuba scored his 15th goal of the season in the 80th minute, getting the helper from Matthew Beery. The goal put the senior forward in a tie for third on Centre's single-season scoring list.
- Dylan Barth kept it rolling in the 81st minute, capping the scoring with his fourth tally of the year.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Spade increased his single-season clean sheet record, making it an even dozen total shutouts for the year to remain among the NCAA Division III leaders. He had two saves in the victory.
- Centre out-shot Thomas More 18-8, with a shots-on-goal difference of 11-2. The Colonels' offense opened up in second half with 14 shots.
