DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's soccer made quick work of visiting Millsaps in Saturday's Southern Athletic Association Tournament Quarterfinal, winning 9-0 at Andrew P. Amend Field.
Alana Hughes scored just 11 seconds into the rout, as the sixth-ranked Colonels (17-0) cruised past the Majors (2-13-2) to advance in the tournament.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hughes' goal from a
Keeghan Francis assist was the fastest goal ever scored by a Centre women's soccer player, and tied for the seventh-quickest in NCAA Division III history.
-
Gracie Fitzgerald made it 2-0 minutes later, converting off a Hughes corner kick for her first goal of the season.
- Centre would get two more quick scores before the half, beginning with Rachel Boule's unassisted tally in the 41st minute.
Elizabeth Nelson would then score on a
Taylor Gebhart assist in the 43rd minute for a 4-0 halftime lead.
-
Cameron Zak scored less than a minute into the second half to continue her hot streak. The rookie defender has four goals in the past three matches.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Unsurprisingly, the Colonels overwhelmed the Majors in total shots (32-0) while controlling possession for much of the match.
- Saturday marked the fourth time this season Hughes has had a goal and an assist in the same match.
- It was the first multi-goal match of the year for both Francis and Nelson.
