MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Centre women's soccer continued their roll through the regular season Friday afternoon, defeating Rhodes by a wide 5-0 margin in Southern Athletic Association action in Tennessee.
Ranked as high as No. 11 in the national polls, the Colonels remain unblemished at 12-0 overall and 3-0 in the SAA. Rhodes dips to 5-4-1 (2-1 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS
- The nationally-ranked Colonels put pressure on their hosts right away, as
Madeleine Espy scored her first goal of the season in the 13
thminute.
- Less than three minutes later,
Keeghan Francis gathered the ball and fed
Alana Hughes, who went far post to beat the keeper and make it 2-0.
- Later in the half rookie
Brooke Smithson found the back of the net, pushing the lead up to 3-0 on an assist from
Abby Hegarty.
- Second-half goals from Espy and Hagerty brought the final tally to 5-0. It marked Hegarty's first career goal and first three-point effort.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre finished with 14 shots to Rhodes' three, although the Colonel defense surrendered no shots on goal.

Sarah Stodghill (11-0) played nearly 83 minutes in goal for Centre, getting spelled by
Abbie Thatcher for the end of the match.
