DANVILLE, Ky. – In a battle of undefeated heavyweights, Centre came from behind to defeat Sewanee, 80-71, in overtime Saturday in the Southern Athletic Association opener.
Trailing by as many as 14 points, Centre (6-0, 1-0 SAA) rode a lively home crowd and outscored the visiting Tigers (7-1, 0-1) by a 14-5 margin in the extra period.
Jacob Bates scored a career-high 26 points and added 12 rebounds, going 12 of 15 from the free throw line.
