DANVILLE, Ky. – Despite coming off a 10-day respite, the Centre women's basketball squad took care of business Tuesday evening against Earlham, winning 63-40 inside Alumni Gymnasium.
The Colonels (6-1) followed a familiar script in the victory over the Quakers (3-5), holding their fifth consecutive opponent under 30% from the field.
Centre was also a hyper-efficient 8-for-10 from long range and finished with a season-high 54% overall shooting effort as a team.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Both sides got off to slow starts offensively, combining for eight points and six turnovers before the first media break.

Madison Marcum helped break Centre's early slump, draining consecutive 3-pointers to end the first quarter and give the Colonels a 13-8 lead.
Lakken Miller assisted both triples.
- Miller found Marcum again on the first possession of the second quarter, and a
Kat Wilson bucket shortly after gave Centre its first double-digit lead of the evening at 18-8.
- Centre carried a 28-20 lead into the half, hitting 10 of 17 field goals (including 6 of 7 from distance).
- The Colonels would put the Quakers in the rearview mirror with a 16-6 third quarter advantage.
- A pair of free throws from
Cheyenne Bunner lifted the lead to 39-22 midway through the period, and a late layup by Wilson gave Centre an 18-point lead heading to the fourth quarter.
- Centre's lead would swell to a game-high 28 at 59-31 with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre's 23-point victory is its largest of the season.
- Wilson (14 points), Marcum (13) and Bunner (10) each finished in double figures for the Colonels.
Madison Rice followed with seven points and
Kylee Murray had six on a pair of 3-pointers.
- Bunner led the team with five rebounds as Centre out-rebounded Earlham 35-25 (22-12 in the second half). Miller recorded a game-high five assists.
- Centre's effort on the glass in the fourth period resulted in 11 second-chance points in the quarter alone.
- The Colonels bench scored 23 points compared to the Quakers' 12. Centre also finished with a 26-20 advantage in points in the paint.
