GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Centre field hockey team lost a tough one at the Denison Big Red on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1 after the Big Red won a penalty shootout.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Emily Schank got the Colonels on the board for the first time in the 2018 season just a few minutes into the second half, taking a crossing pass from Savannah Elpers and converting it into a goal for a 1-0 Centre lead.
- Denison provided the equalizer 11 minutes later on a goal from Charlotte Godfrey.
- The match remained scoreless for the rest of regulation, necessitating a penalty shootout, which the Big Red won 3-1. Caroline Brotzge provided the lone scoring effort for the Colonels during the shootout.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Shots for the game were even at 11-11, with Centre holding a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Sarah Biggs led the way for Centre with three shots in the game, all of them on goal.
- Kristen Mulcahy stopped four of the five shots she faced in regulation for the Colonels.
