LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Centre volleyball got its 2018 season off to a hot start with a tri-match at Spalding. The Colonels dispatched of the Berea Mountaineers and the Spalding Golden Eagles to go 2-0 to begin the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Against Berea, Centre dominated the opening two sets but faced a 22-18 deficit in the third set before storming back and winning by a score of 27-25 to complete the sweep as a Rylee Bledsoe ace provided the final point of the match.
- In the second match against Spalding, each of the first two sets went down to the wire with neither team able to create distance, but the Colonels prevailed in both sets by identical 27-25 scores.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Peyton Vacala had an excellent match against Spalding. The Savannah, Ga. native led the Colonels with a dozen kills, while also pacing the team with three aces and tying Bailey Vernon with a team high 22 digs.
- Kylie Cochran led all players against Spalding with 30 assists.
- Despite three of Centre's six sets going to extra points, the Colonels did not face a set point in either of today's matches.

Centre will remain on the road for its next three matches. The Colonels will face Kentucky State on Sept. 5 at 7 PM.
