FRANKFORT, Ky. – After winning the opening set in their Wednesday evening contest against the Kentucky State Thorobreds, the Centre volleyball team dropped the next three sets, taking their first loss of the year by a score of 3-1.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre used a run of six consecutive points to end the first set with a 25-21 win. Sophomore Perrin Long recorded three kills during that stretch and senior Savannah Guenther capped off the rally and the set with an ace.
- KSU used similar runs at the end of sets to win the next three, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17 once more to close it out.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Peyton Vacala led the Colonels in kills for the third match in a row to start the season, finishing with 11 on the night.
- Reigning SAA Defensive Player of the Week Bailey Vernon once again led Centre in digs with 13.
- Sophomore Kylie Cochran tied for a game high with 31 assists in the contest.
UP NEXT
- The Colonels will finish off their five-match road trip to open the season on Saturday as they will take on Hanover and Franklin in a tri-match at Hanover.
