DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer treated fans at Andrew P. Amend Field to a thrilling performance Wednesday evening, defeating in-state rival Transylvania by a 3-0 margin.
The Colonels (5-0) have taken two of the last three meetings against the Pioneers (0-2-2) since the programs resumed the once-yearly affair in 2016.

Bailey Spade set the Centre men's soccer record for career shutouts, logging his 24th to officially pass Chris Creger '08.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The spectacle truly began midway through the first half, when
Alexander Garuba let loose a bomb from 40 yards out that found the back of the net for a 1-0 Centre lead.
- He nearly doubled his goal output in 51st minute, as he sent a shot off the right post.
- Chances came and went for both sides, but the next goal came in the 76th minute.
Carson Hart sent a free kick glancing off the post, and
Will Newton cleaned up the rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
- Garuba flashed his distance again late in the match, netting a free kick goal for his team-leading fifth score of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Spade was active in the record-setting clean sheet, totaling a season-high 10 saves. Perhaps his best effort came with just seven minutes remaining in the match as he laid out to stop a Pioneer shot on goal.
- The second half saw each team take more than 10 shots, with Centre edging Transy 17-15 in total shots for the match.
- Centre has outscored its opponents by a 16-0 margin this season. Through five matches last year, the Colonels had a 13-4 aggregate goal differential and a 3-2 record.
