DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team had its first home matches of the year on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Berry and Huntingdon in a doubleheader. For the second straight weekend the Colonels came away with a doubleheader split as they lost 3-0 to Berry before bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Huntingdon.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels got off to hot starts in all three of their set victories against Huntingdon, with their 25-12 win in the opening set representing Centre's biggest margin of victory in a set thus far on the year.
- In the fourth set against the Hawks, Centre used a run of seven consecutive points to help blow it open as Huntingdon was forced to use both of its allotted timeouts on back-to-back points.
- Rylee Bledsoe put the finishing touch on the match for the Colonels with the final kill as Centre's wins were by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-15.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES
- While the Colonels had a difficult time against the serves of the Vikings, Centre flipped the script against Huntingdon with a season high 14 aces. Kylie Cochran led Centre with five aces as five difference Centre players finished the match with multiple aces.
- Peyton Vacala finished the Huntingdon match with a game high 12 kills, but the Colonels had good balance against the Hawks as Bledsoe had eight kills while Keeley Morton and Savanna Roper each had seven. Roper led Centre with five kills against Berry.
- In addition to the seven kills, Morton hit at a season high percentage of .700.
- To go along with the aces, Cochran had 49 assists across the two matches today, including a game-high 32 against Huntingdon.
- Bailey Vernon paced the Colonels with ten digs against Berry and tied Vacala for a game high with 11 against Huntingdon.
