DANVILLE, Ky. –The 17th-ranked Centre women's soccer squad cruised past in-state opponent Thomas More Wednesday evening at Amend Field, pouring in four second-half goals in a 5-0 victory.
The Colonels improve to 7-0 overall for the first time since 2012, and have an aggregate score of 23-4 against their opponents. The visiting Saints fall to 1-7.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Reigning Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Offensive Player of the Week,
Alana Hughes, scored barely six minutes in to make it 1-0.
Keeghan Francis provided the assist.
- Centre dominated possession and seemed poised to double its lead in the first half, but it wasn't until Hughes' score in the 63rd minute that the home side went up 2-0. The junior forward turned in a highlight-worthy sequence, dribbling through multiple defenders before slotting home the goal – her fifth in the last three matches.

Rachael Boule would make it 3-0 less than three minutes later, scoring from distance for her first goal of the season.

- Hughes' brace marked her second two-goal effort in as many matches, and she leads the team with six scores this season.
- Centre lived in its attacking third of the field, out-shooting Thomas More by a lopsided 30-1 margin. The Colonels put 16 goals on target.

The Colonels have their Southern Athletic Association opener Saturday at home, taking on Oglethorpe at 12:30 p.m. ET. Centre defeated the Stormy Petrels 4-0 in last season's meeting in Atlanta.
